Robert (Bob) Gerard Parkes was the fourth child of John and Loretta Parkes. He was known for his quiet generosity, quick smile, and helping hand. Bob worked as a part-time security guard at the JFK Library in Boston. He served in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserves for many years. While serving in Vietnam, he was seriously wounded and received the Purple Heart. He enjoyed boating and fishing. Known as a handyman, he enjoyed working on cars. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was always there for his grandchildren's hockey, football, and baseball games. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Bob was a loving father to Robert G., Jr. of NH, James of Hingham, Steven of North Andover, Mary Parkes, Dorothy Parkes, both of Hingham, and the late Annette Marie Parkes. He was a devoted "Gramps" to Gary Dunham, Jr. of Hull; Avery, Talia & Aislinn Parkes of NH; and Alexander & Matthew Parkes of North Andover and Great "Gramps" of Justin & Tyler Dunham of Hull. Former husband of Claire of Hingham. Close friend of Francine Saunders of Hull. Also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Bob passed away on January 6, 2006. He is buried in Saint Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA with other family members.
